Frequently Asked Questions

Operational: Inscriptions and related

  • School management will communicate this information to all parents, whether they are already at the school or newcomers. In order to join extra curricular activities, you must become a member of APPLD. You may find more information about extra curricular activities on this website.
  • Enrollments for all of the extra-curricular options will open over summer. Check the dedicated sections on this website to have more details (SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES, CANTEEN, etc)
  • Parents will need to register their kids both via Ligue 92 tool and on ‘Courbevoie Chez Moi’. Townhall is in charge of restauration (meals only) and Ligue 92 will supervise kids during the whole lunch break (2 hours). Both registrations are mandatory if your kid is having lunch at school.
  • Registration with the Town Hall for restauration and supervised study happens via the Courbevoie Chez Moi website. Registrations generally take place from the month of August. You must be registered before the 1st day of the schoolyear.
  • In order to find out your quotient, you need to complete your Family Quotient on the website of the Courbevoie town hall ‘Courbevoie Chez Moi’. The same quotient will be applied across all school’s activities, regardless of the provider (APPLD, Ligue 92, Mairie de Courbevoie).

Lunch Break

  • The provider may propose games or activities in French/English to the children who are at school during the lunch break. These are not formal activities and it will be up to the children whether they choose to join or not. All of Ligue92 staff will be able to speak French and English and (as far as possible) children from different sections will be combined during the lunch break and afterschool. It should be noted that Ligue92 does not have a mandate to teach the children, even if the school’s pedagogical curriculum is taken into account in the design of their activities. Formal second language teaching does not start at European School until P1.
  • It is not possible for children to bring lunch or afternoon snack from home. If children stay at school during the lunch break or after school they will need to be signed up to the canteen. Regarding other snacks during official school hours (class time and recreation), some teachers allow children to bring food from home, but this is up to the individual teacher.
  • A single menu (entrée, main, desert, dairy product) is provided each day and is the same for all children. This includes a vegetarian menu once a week. Nevertheless, children with particular dietary requirements (Ḥalāl, vegetarian etc.) are free to choose among the different menu items and the animators who supervise the canteen never force the child to eat something that is not compatible with their diet/beliefs.

Evening Daycare

  • Yes. If a child is signed to one of the specific activities organised by APPLD, he/she must be registered for afternoon snack (which takes place during the 30 minutes before the first activity slot). In terms of insurance and liability, the after school care providers are responsible for the children during the afternoon snack time and for taking them to and from their activities (e.g., from the multipurpose room to the classroom where chess is played, and back again at the end of the activity).
  • No, if kid is going to supervised study and leave the school immediately after (at 6pm) family does not have to pay the afterschool care. On the contrary, if kid is staying at school AFTER the supervised study so from 6pm to 6h45pm, the afterschool care is to be paid. Please check the relevant rate for this service on Ligue92 website.
  • Supervised study is a time where children are able to complete their homework after school. This study time is supervised by one of the school teachers, who will answer any questions the children have. The supervised study is invoiced by Courbevoie Town Hall, not by APPLD nor by our provider Ligue92. Please note that there is only one teacher assigned to the study period per day for all age groups combined. Supervised study is available only from P1 to P5 - French and English. It is not available for Nursery/Maternelle.
  • If you choose to register your child for the specific activities organized by APPLD, you are free to sign them up to one or more activity per week. Please note that the availability of activities will depend on your child’s age and that there are limits to the size of each group. Kids must be registered in after school care with our provider for the day of the activity. The planning of specific activities is available on this website.

General inquiries (non-related to APPLD’s mission)

  • This issue is not within the scope of APPLD – it is best to check directly with the school. However, as a general rule, if your child needs to be given medication while under the care of the school or La Ligue 92, or specific accommodations are necessary, your child’s doctor will establish a ‘Plan d’Acceuil Individualisé’ which can then be communicated and discussed with the school. We would advise you to consult with your child’s doctor and/or Ms Nidelet (principal of the primary section), who would be best placed to walk you through this process.
  • There is no nurse permanently assigned to European School
  • The school will request that all children will be covered by an ‘assurance scolaire’ (school insurance), or an assurance responsabilité civile (third party insurance). The latter is often included under housing insurance, so it is worth checking this with your provider before taking out any additional plan. The above insurance covers your children for any activities where they are under the responsibility of the school or out of school care providers. It is up to the parents to decide the level of coverage which they wish to take out.
  • There is no uniform required but specific equipment might be required for certain activities (e.g. sports).
  • This service is not available for the moment; a study is going to be done by APPLD in order to see if feasible to put in place a bus service to/from some areas.
  • The school will communicate to families directly the list of supplies in due time
